DOCUMENT REVIEW

Baer Reed’s expert team provides legal document review in multiple languages. We help law firms and corporate legal departments define their document review requirements and work with them to create plans to meet their timing, cost, and resource needs.

PRIVILEGE REVIEW

Privilege review is an important process through which attorneys review documents related to a discovery request in order to ascertain whether the documents contain information subject to attorney-client privilege and/or the work product doctrine. This review is a critical step to ensure these materials are not inadvertently distributed during the discovery process.

At Baer Reed, we recognize the paramount importance of privilege and how crucial it is in every document review project. Privilege review can be a stand-alone service, or it can be included as part of a broader document review project. We provide clients with reports summarizing our workflow so they can continuously review the progress and productivity of their team. These reports are customized to the client’s specification and can include document or issue summaries, as well as any other information requested by the client about the documents or the review.

Once the privilege review is complete, Baer Reed’s attorneys can draft privilege logs based on their review of the documents. Because Baer Reed’s attorneys are already familiar with the contents of the documents and the specific privilege issues of the case, they are often the most efficient and cost-effective solution for preparing privilege logs.

DEPOSITION SUMMARY

Deposition summaries are an important part of the testimony transcript review process. Although they are not meant to replace reading full transcripts, deposition summaries provide objective and concise outlines or synopses of the most salient points of deposition transcripts. Summarizing lengthy deposition testimony into succinct summaries can save attorney time and reduce case costs.

Deposition transcripts often run to hundreds of pages and our clients use our expertise to help analyze this large volume of information. We assist our clients by preparing deposition transcripts and summarizing the pertinent parts of deposition testimony, which eliminates the strain on resources for firms and in-house legal departments.

It also allows these summaries to be prepared in the most time-efficient manner – with attorneys on our team working on summaries while our clients continue to prepare for depositions or litigation. They are tailored to clients’ needs and can be customized to any specific case issues.

Outsourcing deposition summaries is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), state and local bar associations, and the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA). Our deposition summaries are prepared by expert attorneys in this area, along with a team of project managers and support staff. All of our clients’ documentation is kept confidential and secure. Baer Reed’s services are a cost-saving alternative to preparing deposition summaries in-house, which promotes internal productivity and resource allocation.

As part of our deposition support services, Baer Reed can also analyze deposition transcripts for any inconsistencies between the transcript and the exhibits either as a stand-alone service or as part of a deposition summary. Our review process is extremely thorough, and we can provide our work product and outputs in any format a client prefers.
